Hosta 'Empress WU'
Mid-Season

Empress Wu , to my knowledge , is already the biggest Hosta ever !

I divided it after its sixth year from seed ,,, 4 feet tall by 9 feet wide . That sets a plant back a couple plus years ,,, then it was hit hard by a couple late freezes , so we are making a new run at mature clump size . Last year we were up to 52 inches tall with the widest leaf measuring in at 25 inches . Last year was a good growing season ,,, so I expect to see some good gains this spring !!!

I'd say that Big Kahuna is about two thirds the size of Wu ,,, which probably makes it the biggest center variegated Hosta ( & a damn big Hosta regardless ) !!!
